Detection Dog Seminar~ Foundations
DO YOU WANT TO DO DETECTION WORK WITH YOUR DOG?
This is where you start! This hands-on seminar will teach the foundation of Detection work. It will run on Saturday and Sunday. (Approx hours Sat 9am-5pm & Sun 9am-4pm).
This seminar will establish a clear foundation for detection work. You will get to choose what type of source you are interested in working with. This is air scenting, like what Rogue (My Human Remains Detection dog) does for her "Job".
There will be both an indoor element and an outdoor element.
(Outdoor is somewhat weather dependent)
WHAT WE WILL BE DOING/LEARNING IN THIS SEMINAR
**Odour Recognition
**Commitment to odour
**Foundational skills to build drive to hunt for the source
**Establish a clear indication/ TFR (Trained final response)
**Establish some duration of TFR
**Handler timing & proofing
**Odour Problem-solving
SOURCE CHOICES TO CHOOSE FROM
**HR (We will only be using Human blood)
**Drugs
**Essential Oil (No birch will be used)
PREREQUISITES
**Your dog must have food or toy drive
**Aggression towards humans needs to be pre-approved
COST: $400+tax Per Dog ($420)
INCLUDES:
**One Getxent Tube (With Vile) that is incubated with odour/per dog
**Snacks & Drinks for both days

Detection Progression Sessions
WHAT IS A DETECTION PROGRESSION SESSION?
Fine-tune your dog's skill set & work at your own pace! The Detection Progression Session will be for the source you worked with at the Detection Seminar. (HR- Human Remains, Drugs, or Essential Oils). We run these classes once a week.
Our Detection Weekly Progression Sessions will keep you and your dog in different skill sets in different situations.
PREREQUISITES
** You must have completed our Detection Dog Foundations seminar
** Your dog must have food or toy drive

YOU WILL LEARN:

Scent theory progression

Importance of proper equipment

Learning how to read your dog's body language when they are in scent vs not in scent

Learn how to read when your dog is crittering

Learn to hide sources based on different scent patterns/theories

How to change your training and help your dog in different environments (Forest, Grassland, Fields, Urban & Inside Buildings)

Progressing into single blind & double-blind hides
-
How to keep your dog motivated & work through distractions
REQUIREMENTS FOR DOGS:
(a more specific list will be given after sign-up)
** Your dog must be wearing a harness or flat collar
** Your dog must have a long line (no retractable leashes) and a regular leash
** Your dog must have a drive for a toy or food
** Your dog is required to stay in your vehicle (unsupervised) when it is not their turn
REQUIREMENTS FOR HUMANS:
(A more specific list will be given after sign-up)
** Sturdy Footwear
** Dress weather-appropriate - Classes run rain, snow or shine! (Please remember you will be outside for the majority of the class)
** Able to participate for 3-3.5 hours
** Ready to build a team with your dog

One dog family: $35+tax ($36.75)
Two dog family: $60+tax ($63)
